Pilot Crushtec International pulls out the stops for Medupi

One of the pillars of leading crushing and screening specialist Pilot Crushtec International’s marketing strategy is the provision of a world class after sales service experience.

National sales manager Nicolan Govender says that this was once again demonstrated in a sale that hinges around the urgency associated with the construction of Eskom’s Medupi power station.

“At very short notice a local contractor received an order to supply aggregate to the project, which meant he had an immediate need for a suitable screen to process crushed natural rock. Associates with industry experience suggested he contact us and he is now the owner of a Sandvik QA140 mobile screen.”

As the region’s distributor for Sandvik Construction’s mobile range of crushers and screens, Pilot Crushtec International not only keeps a comprehensive stock of products, but has the technical expertise to recommend the most suitable equipment for specific applications.

“The Sandvik QA140 is ideal for this type of application and the volumes involved. The customer accepted our suggestions and placed an order for immediate delivery,” says Govender.

The order was placed on a Thursday afternoon, the machine was made ready for shipment the following day and by the Saturday was trucked nearly 400 kilometres to the Medupi project site just outside of Ellisras in the Limpopo province. The commissioning team arrived early the next morning and by Monday the screen was in operation under the careful scrutiny of a Sandvik-trained regional sales engineer.

“The Sandvik QA140 is an entry level product and although it is compact in size, is able to outperform many of its larger competitors,” says Govender, adding that the after sales service experience is a continuous one. It extends to regular follow up calls, ongoing operational advice and the rapid supply of strategic replacement parts.
