VSI CRUSHERS

When it comes to Vertical Shaft Impactors – Pilot Crushtec has been building, repairing, refining and developing some of the continents best VSI’s for over 30 years. Pilot Crushtec International (Pty) Ltd supplies a full range of cost-effective, heavy-duty, fit-for-purpose, vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushers. Twister vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushers are ideal to use as third and fourth stage crushers in quarrying, mining, recycling, infrastructure and construction applications. Twister VSI crushers are designed to crush a wide range of rocks and minerals using rock-on-rock or rock-on-steel crushing principles.

Twister VSI crushers use two variations of VSI crushing. The first is vertical shaft impact crushing where rock is fed onto a table type rotor which accelerates and then discharges the rock at high speed against steel anvils in the crushing chamber. The impact of the rock against the steel anvils induces fracture and breaks the rock. The second variation called vertical shaft autogenous (VSA) crushing, where rock is fed into a multi-port rotor which accelerates and then discharges the rock at high speed against a rock filled crushing chamber. The impact of rock on rock induces fracture, breaks and shapes the rock. This unique crushing action provides low wear costs, superior products and high reduction ratios.

The field-proven Twister VSI crushers are used all over the world in aggregate, industrial milling, recycling and mineral processing applications. With over 500 units in operation around the world, Twister VSI crushers are providing users with cost-effective, high-quality and high-performance solutions for their tertiary and quaternary crushing requirements.

Twister semi-mobile crushers are standard, heavy-duty crushers supplied complete and ready to run. They are mounted on skid-frames, do not require concrete foundations and are designed for rapid installation and easy integration with the rest of our product range. These tried and tested crushers are designed to handle the harshest conditions and toughest rock in all types of applications.

The Pilot Crushtec TwisterTrac is a fully mobile, diesel hydraulic driven, remote controlled, tracked VSI crusher. This world leading product is fully automated, features variable rotor speed and has a throughput capacity of up to 300tph. The TwisterTrac can be used on its own or easily integrated into mobile crushing plants. This is widely regarded as the world’s best-selling and number one mobile VSI available on the global market.

Detailed Description

The Lokotrack® LT7150™ mobile VSI plant is the first choice in final stage crushing for producing high-quality cubical aggregates, road base and prime manufactured sand. The LT7150 is built around the proven Barmac® B series vertical shaft impactor featuring rock-on-rock crushing action.

Features

The crusher allows quick and easy operation and service, the possibility to steplessly control the product grading, and the production of superior cubical end products. The Barmac VSI’s rotor accelerates the material and continuously discharges it into the crushing chamber. The particle exit velocities range between 45–70 m/s (150–230 ft/s). The crusher runs with a direct hydraulic motor, eliminating the need for V-belts. This allows tip speed to be fully adjustable from the automated control panel.

The LT7150 can be fed by conveyor, excavator or wheel loader thanks to the large feed hopper. The sturdy belt feeder takes the feed to the crusher. The efficient, environmentally friendly CAT® diesel engine powers the Lokotrack LT7150, meeting the latest emission requirements.

The market leading, user-friendly Metso IC™ process control system features complete automatic crushing process controls, single-button process start-up and advanced fault diagnostics.

Process overview

Lokotrack LT7150 is typically used in multistage crushing process in the third or fourth stage. Belt feeder transfers the feed material to the Barmac B7150 which reduces them to the desired size and shape. Main conveyor discharges the product in the stockpile.

How it works

The primary path for the feed material is through the stone lined rotor where material can be accelerated up to rotor tip speeds of 80 m/s (262 ft/s) before being discharged into the crushing chamber. Additionally, material may be cascaded into the crushing chamber, bypassing the rotor.
