What does the Twister VSI crusher do?

The difference between VSI and VSA crushing

The Twister range utilises two variations of VSI crushing – vertical shaft impact crushing and vertical shaft autogenous crushing.

Vertical shaft impact crushing (VSI)

Rock-on-steel impact: rock is fed onto a table-type rotor which accelerates at high speeds in order to fling the rock against the steel anvils located in the crushing chamber; therefore, fracturing the rocks as they impact against the steel.

Vertical shaft autogenous crushing (VSA)

Rock-on-rock impact: rock is fed into a multi-port rotor which accelerates, discharging the rock at a high speed against a rock-filled crushing chamber. The impact fractures and breaks the shape of the rocks. This crushing action allows for low wear costs and high reduction ratios.
