Edge RTS80 stockpiler cuts capital and running costs

Just Coal recently added to its extensive range of Pilot Crushtec International products with the acquisition of an Edge radial tracked stockpiler RTS80.

This innovative and versatile product designed and built by Edge Innovate in Northern Ireland, will shortly be put to use at Kusile Mining’s Fentonia colliery and was specifically acquired owing to the numerous operational efficiencies offered by the product’s unique design.

According to Pilot Crushtec International CEO Sandro Scherf, the Edge RTS80 is both a radial wheeled and tracked stockpiler, all in one well-engineered package.

“One of its major benefits to operators is the optimum use of available space which can be achieved by the machine’s ability to create high level 360° stockpiles virtually unaided. The largest product of its type currently available on the local market, the Edge RTS80 is a fully automatic stockpiling system that can be used to handle a diverse range of materials,” he says.

Scherf explains that its onboard remote control system gives the Edge RTS80 a high degree of onsite maneuverabilitywith the added ability of being able to negotiate uneven terrain. This capability also enables it to be easily relocated as it is a simple matter for it to be tracked onto a low loader.

The concomitant cost benefits of using a 360° stockpiler are considerable to say the least. The Edge RTS80 can be fed directly by high volume primary and secondary crushers or screens, negating the need for it to be supported by one or more front-end loaders.

“Not only does this reduce the amount of capital equipment required, it also provides significant savings in respect of diesel, maintenance and labour, especially when the operator is working on a 24/7 basis,” concludes Scherf.
