Crushtec Chronicle – Sandvik screens guarantee customers that competitive edge
It’s just under three years since we were appointed the distributor of Sandvik construction equipment in southern Africa, and in this short space of time the brand’s range of mobile screens has become one of the most potent weapons in our product armoury.
This is the logical outcome of working with a supplier with very similar philosophies.
“As a company, we have traditionally been supporters of high performance mobile screens and double screen technology, an area in which Sandvik excels. Combine the two and you have a winning formula for a range of products that has been very well received by our customers,” says CEO Sandro Scherf.
A prime example of this surge in popularity is the QA331 double deck tracked screen that is rapidly becoming the product of choice among local contractors – the very market for which it was intended. Capable of delivering up to 300tph, the QA331 is easy to operate, simple to transport and has a proven track record in applications as diverse as gold mining, road building and the recycling of a several materials.
The market penetration already achieved shows strong support for Sandvik’s classic double screen technology, a prime feature of three of the larger products in the mobile range. These include the recently introduced QA335, the QA441 and the QA451.
Sandro explains the economic benefits to end users:
“For a relatively minor increase in cost against a conventional single screen, you have a product that will deliver up to a 30% increase in production. Operating at a higher rpm makes the double screen more efficient and the ability to change angles means that the customer can take on far tougher applications than would be possible using a single inclined screen.”
The new, compact QA335 was launched to place the benefits of double screen technology within reach of contractors and recyclers, and the innovation employed in its design yields a product that is definitely user-friendly. The customer is able to optimise output and accuracy by adjusting primary and secondary screening angles while the complete package is powered by a CAT 74.5kW power plant.
Going up the scale in terms of volumes, the QA441 brings double deck technology to a number of heavy applications, including iron ore and coal mining, aggregate production, recycling and high volume sand production. All of this can be accomplished at a rate of up to 600tph.
Customers requiring high volume output matched with the versatility to process a wide range of materials need look no further than the QA451. The product design fuses double screen technology with a triple deck screen box which enable it to simultaneously produce four specified products and one oversize stream of material, added to which it boasts massive stockpiling capabilities. These are excellent attributes for customers looking to participate in major road and infrastructure projects.
In the modern business world, major purchasing decisions take into account many weighty factors, including capital outlay, operating costs, potential returns on investment and proven reliability and service levels. According to our team of sales engineers, once these boxes have been properly ticked it comes down to good old horse sense where Sandvik still scores highly.
“Customers continually relate to its historic reputation and the quality and finish of its build,” is their unanimous verdict.
