Pilot Crushtec making global inroads
Johannesburg - 8 December 2006:
With its products already operating in more than 25 countries, the South
African-based manufacturer, Pilot Crushtec, has now made inroads into
New Zealand with the sale of the world’s first volume production tracked
remote-controlled diesel-hydraulic vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher.
The
tracked VSI crusher, the TwisterTrac, was designed and built at the
Pilot Crushtec plant in Boksburg, Gauteng, and was introduced to the
international market last year. The 20th unit was sold to an
end user almost immediately upon arrival in New Zealand.
Pilot Crushtec is a leading supplier of mobile and semi-mobile crushing,
screening and materials handling equipment. The company has a turnover
of more than R175-m.
In
the latest development, Pilot Crushtec has appointed TransDiesel Ltd,
which has its head office in Christchurch, to market the Pilot Crushtec
range in New Zealand. TransDiesel Ltd has branches in Auckland and
Rotorua, with a third soon to be opened in Palmerston North. It is well
known in the mining and quarrying industries and holds distributorships
for prominent international equipment brands. The company also has a
financial interest in Terrequipe S.A.R.L., New Caledonia, which
specialises in servicing the nickel and quarry industries.
According to Mr Paul Chappel, export sales manager for Pilot Crushtec,
the first sale in New Zealand recently of a Pilot Crushtec manufactured
TwisterTrac was an important milestone in the history of the company.
Pilot Crushtec is the first manufacturer in the world to market
internationally, a volume produced, tracked remote-controlled
diesel-hydraulic VSI crusher. The 20th unit was sold into New
Zealand - the country where the first VSI crusher was developed nearly
40 years ago.
He said that
although the VSI market is well established in New Zealand, he believed
that there is excellent market potential for the South African-made
tracked VSI in that country. The Twistertrac is a tertiary or quaternary
crusher generally used in the production of fines for sand production
and mineral processing. It is also ideal for producing high quality,
cubical shaped aggregates for construction and road building. It has a
throughput capacity of up to 220t/hr and a feed size up to 100mm.
Currently, Pilot Crushtec’s products are being actively marketed in the
UK, across Europe, in the Middle East as well as in countries that
include India and Australia. Now plans are being made to launch the
product range in the United States, Mr Chappel added.
