PILOT CRUSHTEC EXPANDS MODULAR RANGE WITH NEW STATIC JAW
CRUSHER
As part of its ever growing range of modular crushing and screening equipment, Pilot Crushtec
recently introduced the Pilot Modular MJ 2436 skid mounted jaw crusher.

According to Graham Kleinhans, sales manager at Pilot Crushtec, the
machine was introduced in response to demand for a cost effective, ready
to run primary crushing unit.
The Pilot Modular MJ 2436 plant comprises a 4.9m x 1.0m vibrating grizzly
feeder, a 900 mm x 600 mm jaw crusher, and a 1000mm wide discharge
conveyor, all mounted on an extremely heavy duty skid frame, fitted with
an operators platform, catwalks and safety guards.
The heavy duty vibrating grizzly feeder is designed to operate in
quarrying and recycling operations, and is able to accommodate hard rock
feed material up to 500 mm. The feeder is powered by an 18.5 kW variable
speed drive motor, which allows the volume of material being fed into the
jaw crusher to be adjusted to suit the job requirements.
The vibrator assembly and grizzly section are both bolted together for
ease of assembly or disassembly. Abrasion resistant liners are also bolted
for easy removal. Eccentric counter-rotating timed vibrator shafts mounted
on large spherical roller bearings provide the machine’s vibrating motion,
and a timing gear adjustment allows for variable feeder throw.
The 24x36 CT Series jaw crusher is a highly efficient unit, featuring the
latest engineering design. The jaw crusher is powered by a 75 kW electric
motor and operates at a speed of 250 r.p.m. The machine is capable of
crushing between 120 and 275 tph of material.
The jaw crusher’s fabricated and stress relieved steel base and
rib-reinforced side plates make it a robust and durable machine. The
pitched fixed jaw dies and steeply aligned toggle seats provide highly
efficient nip angles. Side tensioning wedges keep the jaw dies in position
and the cheek plates are kept in place with a simple bolt system. The wrap
around design of the jaw dies protects the frame and eliminates the need
for additional wedges. The jaw plates are reversible to allow easy
clearance of blockages.
A notable feature of the machine, Kleinhans says, is its hydraulically
operated closed side setting. This allows the aperture of the jaw crusher,
which controls the size of the output, to be changed in minutes.
One of the considerations when designing the plant was that the plant be a
heavy duty unit while retaining an ability to be easily relocatable. The
bolt together frame system allows the plant to be easily transported and
erected on site. Together with a minimal requirement for a flat compacted
area on which to place the plant, the 39t unit can be erected within a day
and operational shortly thereafter, after connecting electricity.
Machines already sold are operating in a wide range of applications from
cobalt ore, coal and platinum operations to recycling and quarrying.
According to Kleinhans, Pilot Crushtec’s customers have expressed great
satisfaction with the product and demand is exceptionally high. Since the
introduction of the modular jaw crusher in May 2005, 13 units have been
sold and a large number are currently on order.
“The Pilot modular MJ 2436 skid mounted jaw crusher is currently the most
competitively priced crusher of its kind on the market,” says Kleinhans,
adding that this in no way affects the excellent quality and after-sales
service that customers have come to expect from Pilot Crushtec.
The incorporation of the Pilot modular MJ 2436 jaw crusher into its
modular range has enabled Pilot Crushtec to offer its customers a complete
range of modular crushing and screening solutions. The machine can be used
as a standalone machine or in combination with other equipment.
“Customers using the Pilot modular range can now crush much larger
material. We believe that there is a definite synergy between the MJ 2436
jaw crusher and the rest of our range of static horizontal impactors,
vertical shaft impactors, cone crushers and screening and stockpiling
units,” Kleinhans adds.
